About CometVisu/CometVisu
CometVisu is a real-time web-based visualization software designed for building automation and smart home applications. It displays live data in a modern web interface that runs in any standard browser, making it accessible across devices without requiring specialized software installations. The system is designed to be lightweight, serving only static content from a small web server that even consumer routers can handle, with optional PHP support for extended features.
The project communicates with building automation backends, primarily supporting KNX bus systems through eibd/knxd daemons or integration with OpenHAB. It includes optional diagram plugins powered by a specialized rrdtool installation for historical data visualization. CometVisu comes pre-installed on WireGate devices but is also available as standalone releases for manual deployment on other systems.
The project uses JavaScript and the Qooxdoo framework for its web interface and serves a community of German and English speaking users primarily through the KNX User Forum. It offers both stable releases and experimental nightly builds, with documentation and community support available through its official website and development channels.
