About Pineconium/ChoacuryOS
Choacury is a work-in-progress custom operating system written primarily in C and Assembly, with some C++ components. The project is still in pre-alpha stage, meaning core functionality is incomplete and under active development. It targets x86_64 architecture and is designed to run on virtual machines like VirtualBox and QEMU, though the developers note it may also work on real hardware with potential issues to be addressed later.
The project provides recommended virtual machine specifications of 64 MB base memory, 9 MB video memory, and 2 GB hard disk space. Compiling Choacury requires NASM, GCC, GRUB Multiboot, Makefile, and QEMU to be installed, with the build process supported on Linux distributions or Windows via WSL. The developers actively encourage community contributions and maintain a development Discord server for collaboration, along with documentation and a todo list outlining needed work.
