About buresdv/Cork

Cork is a native macOS application that provides a fast graphical interface for Homebrew, the popular package manager for macOS. Built entirely in SwiftUI, it offers features that go beyond what Homebrew's command-line tools provide, including system proxy awareness, package tagging, cached download clearing, menu bar updates, and detailed package information all in one location. The application significantly improves performance for common tasks like listing installed packages, which Cork accomplishes about ten times faster than Homebrew's native implementation.

The app includes several convenience features that make package management simpler, such as easily distinguishing between intentionally installed packages and those installed as dependencies, selective package updates, dependency tracking, and a user-friendly interface for managing Homebrew services. Cork is available through multiple distribution channels: as a paid download for 25€, through contribution by translating or implementing features, or by self-compiling from source code. The project is strictly human-made with no AI involvement in its development.

For users interested in compiling Cork themselves, the process involves setting up Xcode, enrolling in Apple's developer program, installing Tuist and Mise for dependency management, and following detailed build instructions. The source code is available under the Commons Clause license, allowing modification and personal use but restricting commercial distribution and resale.
