AbilitY is a web application designed to connect people with disabilities or difficulties who need assistance with others willing to help them. The platform allows users to create task listings ranging from simple errands to comprehensive care support when family and friends are unavailable. Helpers can browse these listings and accept tasks they want to undertake.
The application incentivizes helpers through monetary compensation set by the task creator for each listing. To improve usability and logistics, AbilitY includes an integrated map feature that visualizes the locations of posted tasks, making it easier for helpers to find and coordinate assistance work in their areas.
This project was created by team Memelitrix as their submission for Hack TUES 8, a hackathon competition. The application is built in JavaScript and represents a solution aimed at bridging accessibility gaps through community-based peer support.
