About scala-network/Scala
Scala is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency and blockchain project written in C++ that aims to provide distributed wealth across all types of devices. It implements a decentralized digital currency system with built-in privacy features, allowing users to send and receive funds without transactions being easily traced on the public blockchain.
The project provides comprehensive privacy, security, and untraceability through cryptographic mechanisms including ring signatures, RingCT transactions, and a proof-of-work system. Scala operates as a fully decentralized peer-to-peer network where anyone can run the software on commodity hardware to validate the blockchain and participate in the network. The codebase is derived from CryptoNote technology and has been actively developed since 2014, with regular scheduled software upgrades occurring in April and October to implement new features and protocol improvements.
The project is community-driven and completely open source under the BSD 3-Clause license. It includes extensive build support across multiple platforms including Linux, macOS, Windows, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, and Solaris, as well as specialized builds for Raspberry Pi. The repository contains a command-line wallet with multilingual support, comprehensive documentation, a research lab for cryptographic and protocol development, and active development communities on IRC and forums. Users and developers can contribute to the project, report vulnerabilities through responsible disclosure processes, and participate in discussions about Scala's technical development and cryptocurrency ecosystem.
