About synopse/mORMot
Synopse mORMot is a comprehensive open-source ORM/SOA/MVC framework designed for Delphi and Free Pascal, enabling developers to build client-server applications with object persistence, service-oriented architecture, and web interfaces. The framework supports multiple database backends including SQLite3, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and others, with both SQL and NoSQL persistence options. It operates as a modular system where components like PDF generation, database access, and JSON handling can be used independently of the full framework.
The framework emphasizes rapid application development through convention over configuration patterns and provides multiple integration points for different architectures. Developers can build applications ranging from standalone solutions to complex domain-driven designs with rich desktop clients, REST services, and web interfaces using Mustache templating or AJAX. Key features include integrated SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine support for server-side scripting, multi-threaded core capable of handling 50,000+ concurrent connections, automatic endpoint configuration, encryption via HTTPS and AES-256, and comprehensive testing and mocking support.
This repository is now in frozen maintenance mode and the developers actively recommend upgrading to mORMot 2 for new projects. The project has been developed since 2008 by Synopse Informatique and includes contributions from dozens of developers. While bug fixes and SQLite3 binary updates continue, the framework is stable and well-documented with extensive tutorials and guides available, making it suitable for maintaining existing Delphi applications or understanding mature ORM/SOA design patterns in Pascal.
