About FAForever/website
FAForever is a community-driven platform for Forged Alliance Forever, a real-time strategy game. This repository contains the main website built with JavaScript and Express, serving as the central hub for the game's community. The site was designed with two primary goals established by the FAForever Association: onboarding new players through registration, documentation, and support resources, and promoting the broader community including clans, maps, mods, and tournaments.
The website integrates with several backend services including Hydra, WordPress, and the FAForever Java API. Developers can set up their local environment either through direct Node and Yarn installation or using Docker and Docker Compose for a more containerized approach. The project leverages a local-stack setup that bundles all necessary services together, allowing developers to run the entire application locally in development mode on port 8020.
The project actively supports internationalization through a POEditor translation platform, currently supporting English, Russian, French, and German with room to expand to additional languages as community volunteers become available. The team welcomes contributions not only in code but also in translation efforts, making it an accessible project for non-developers to participate in community development.
