About arrowhead-f/core-java-spring

The Arrowhead Framework is an ambitious European innovation project aimed at enabling efficient design and integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and bridging the digital with the physical world. This repository contains the core Java Spring implementation of version 4.5.0, providing essential infrastructure services for building Industry 4.0 and IoT systems.

The framework comprises multiple core systems including Service Registry for service discovery, Authorization for access control, Orchestrator for service coordination, EventHandler for event-driven architecture, Gatekeeper and Gateway for inter-cloud communication, DataManager and TimeManager for data and time services, and several supporting systems like Certificate Authority, Onboarding Controller, Device Registry, and Choreographer. It also includes optional components such as Plant Description Engine, HawkBit Configuration Manager, and Device Hub with Eclipse Hono integration.

The project provides multiple deployment options including Docker containers (both partial and complete configurations), Debian installers for systems like Raspberry Pi, and source compilation with Maven. The documentation covers system design descriptions, use cases, security implementations, and detailed REST API endpoints for all core components. The framework uses MySQL for persistence, supports various communication protocols and security models (certificate-based, token-based, and insecure), and is designed to support both local and inter-cloud service orchestration with quality of service capabilities.
