About lbryio/lbry-desktop
The LBRY Desktop App is the official graphical interface for the LBRY protocol, a decentralized content marketplace. Built with Electron and React, it bundles the LBRY daemon with a user-friendly UI to let people browse, search, and interact with content on the blockchain-based network. The application functions as both a content browser and a cryptocurrency wallet for the LBRY ecosystem.
The project is written primarily in JavaScript and provides native installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux, along with community-maintained packages for Arch Linux, Flatpak, NixOS, and ARM devices. Users can either download pre-built releases or build the application from source using Node.js and Yarn. The development workflow includes commands for running a development version and building production-ready executables using electron-builder.
The project actively welcomes community contributions and compensates contributors for bug reports, fixes, and other improvements. Security is handled through a dedicated contact address with PGP key support, and releases are cryptographically signed by project maintainers. The codebase is MIT licensed and primarily maintained by the LBRY team.
