About malsync/malsync
MAL-Sync is a browser extension and userscript that synchronizes anime and manga tracking across multiple streaming and reading platforms with centralized account systems like MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu, and Simkl. The project enables automatic episode tracking so users can seamlessly update their lists while watching on supported sites, effectively turning their anime list into a unified bookmark system across the entire web.
The extension supports an extensive ecosystem of over 200 anime streaming sites, manga readers, and media servers including popular platforms like Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Mangadex, and countless fan-hosted services. Beyond basic tracking, it provides features like direct links between list entries and streaming sources, thumbnail enlargement, episode release time estimates based on Japanese air dates, and a popup interface called miniMAL for browsing and editing lists without leaving the current page.
Written in TypeScript, MAL-Sync is actively maintained and available across multiple distribution channels including the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, and as a standalone userscript. The project welcomes community contributions and maintains detailed wiki documentation for developers who want to add new site support or build the extension locally.
