Extensity is a Chrome extension manager that helps users quickly enable and disable their installed Chrome extensions. Rather than cluttering the toolbar with dozens of extensions, Extensity provides a popup interface for toggling extensions on and off, allowing users to keep their browser lean and responsive by disabling unused extensions temporarily.
The extension includes several productivity features beyond basic toggling. Users can organize extensions into custom profiles to quickly switch between different groups of extensions, mark important extensions as "always on" to ensure they remain enabled, and search through their extension library. A favorite extensions list lets users quickly access their most-used tools, and recent updates added dark mode support and syncing across multiple computers through Chrome Cloud Storage. The extension also allows launching Chrome apps directly from the list.
Extensity is built with vanilla JavaScript and has been actively maintained since its initial release in 2011, with recent updates including a migration to Chrome Manifest v3 and a shift from jQuery to pure JavaScript. The project has evolved significantly over more than a decade, removing dependencies and modernizing its build system while maintaining core functionality for extension management.
